Great British Adventure Tour
Friday Afternoon Great Adventure Tour returns this year with awards that will allow registered entrants to tour the metro area ending at PIR for packet pick-up and the ABFM Noggin and Natter.
In years past, we had a Sunday Fun Rally. This year we will introduce “The Great British Adventure Tour,” which will be on Friday to pick up your registration packets without sitting in traffic on I-5.
This year on Friday, September 8th at 3 pm, we will leave from one of our long-time sponsors, MINI of Portland (9134 SW Canyon Road). The tour will be through the west hills, and we will stop at a few locations along the way. The best part of the tour is we will miss almost all Friday traffic. Sitting in I-5 traffic in a vintage sports car is not fun.
The plan is to arrive between 4 pm and 5 pm at PIR. Just in time to pick up your registration package and partake in the “Noggin and Natter.” Yes, you read that right. Free dinner provided by Jaguar Owners Club of Oregon and early pick up your registration packet. An additional perk is not having to wait at the gate to get your registration packet on the day of the event.
Let’s make this the biggest event yet. Our wish is to see 500 or 600 British classics all staged at MINI of Portland. With that many British cars, maybe one of the news choppers would follow us on our tour. That would be amazing. I have a dream. Let’s make it a reality!!!
I hope to see all of you at the “Great British Adventure Tour” to pick up your registration packets.
Tour Awards will be presented on Saturday in the Main Tent during the Awards Celebration.
Noggin and Natter
The Noggin & Natter, brought to you by the Jaguar Owners Club of Oregon volunteers, will provide you with a bit of nosh as you pick up your registration packet on Friday evening. Pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, cole slaw, salad, cookies, and a beverage will be provided from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm as long as supplies last.

Giant Slalom - Day One - Sponsored By: Oregon Mini Society
Any registered ABFM vehicle can enter, and space is limited. Registration for the Giant Slalom opens in the Main Tent at 10:00 am and closes at 11:15 on both days. You must register Saturday for Saturday runs and Sunday for Sunday runs. There will be NO Sunday registration on Saturday.
Tech Inspection (no loose wheels or batteries, remove loose items from the vehicle) will take place east of the SOVREN race grid starting at 11:20.
We have plotted the course using the SCCA pit, then proceeding into the drag race start area, followed by a spin cone in the drag race area as there is plenty of space for the maneuver.
This course equalizes times and offers a more open course for larger cars.
Workers are welcome, and we highly recommend joining us for a better view of the event. Why watch from the bleachers when you can be close enough to smell the drivers?… I mean cars! And, you’ll receive a nifty worker T-shirt for your time! First time out, maybe you volunteer Saturday for observation and run the course on Sunday?
Trophies are awarded to drivers with the best times at 2:45 pm Sunday in the main tent.
You must be present to collect your award. Awards will not be mailed out.
